Obtain the delivered dimensions
Ask whether the sofa arrives assembled, in modules or in packages, and which pieces can be removed as part of the normal delivery procedure. Record the dimensions of the largest relevant component. Do not base the plan on an unverified assumption about removable arms or legs.
Map the entire route
Start outside the building and include the entrance, stairs, landings, hallways and room doorway. Note handrails and ceiling changes. Take the measurements the seller requests rather than selecting only the opening that seems narrowest from a quick visual inspection.
Pay special attention to turns
A long object may pass a straight opening but lack room to rotate at the landing beyond it. Provide photographs and a drawing to the delivery team. Their assessment should address the actual route, not just compare one furniture width with one door width.
Compare realistic alternatives
A smaller delivered component may make a modular sofa attractive even when its final footprint is unchanged. Check connectors, assembly and the final seating arrangement too. Delivery convenience is one part of the choice rather than evidence that every modular design will suit the room.
A hypothetical stairwell has a generous entrance but a tight upper turn. The buyer supplies the landing measurements before choosing between an assembled sofa and separate modules, avoiding a purchase based only on the entrance door.
